Princess Birthday Bash

We could not have asked for a nicer day to have R's 4th birthday party.  We were surrounded by lots of family and food.  R's self proclaimed princess theme was the perfect setting for our party.  our little girl is getting so big and is so beautiful.  She received awesome gifts - princess barbie, bucky the ship, a nap mat for school, a movie (toy story), lots of princess books and a princess puzzle and princess tea set.  Doc McStuffin matching game, and Dora microphone....and many other things.  Yesterday, we left school and work early to take R to the zoo for some one on one time.  afterwards, we had ice cream and then picked up K to go to dinner.  We are so lucky to have such a wonderful family to celebrate with!!

Springfest 2013

Today was Springfest 2013.  Last year it was so crowded, so this year we made an effort to get there earlier.  When we arrived, the school bus was just pulling up and he stopped to pick us up!  Riley's first school bus ride was with her whole family.  We were dropped off and met up with S and S.  We had our photo taken with Mr. Bunny and had a cookie while we waited for the egg hunt to start.  The mounted police came by and K got to sit with the police officer on the horse, very cool.  The kids played on the playground and R & S jumped in the bouncy house.  Then it was time to hunt for eggs, R and K did a great job picking up eggs on the ground and came away with a lot of prizes.  It was a fun but very chilly day.  The kids had a great time and we went to Rooster's afterward to have some lunch.

Trip to Charleston

R and I went to Charleston for our annual visit with Grammy.  It is always a very fast weekend, but so fun to have some Grammy time.  R was very very excited to fly on a plane "her first time" according to her, i had to reminder her that it is actually her 4th time!  This time was different, she instructed me, because she is a big girl and she can watch doc mcstuffins on the plane.  (both are true).  As soon as we go there, we went to Chic-fila to get a snack, R realized there was a playground inside the restaurant and blew off some steam climbing around on the equipment.  While we were visiting, we made sure to take advantage of all of the local playgrounds.  There is a lot of playground equipment shaped like ships down there - which excited R, as she played "jake and the neverland pirates" with her ship "bucky".  We played dress up at the castle inside the children's museum and had lunch at Toast.  We stopped at the cupcake shop on the way home and R put in her order for a chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting.  Grammy had her "usual" - the coconut.  R also allowed Grammy and Mommy to do some outlet mall shopping (mommy's favorite playground).  Overall, a great trip - thanks for the hospitality Grammy!

The boys had a good weekend too - Uncle B was in town and K got to spend some time with his uncle, Grandma and Pop Pop.

girls day

R had a very busy day.  We started the day with Disney on Ice.  We surprised R with a new princess dress to wear for the occasion.  It was very well received and when we met up with our friends at Nationwide, R whipped off her coat to proudly reveal her Aurora dress!  It was hilarious.  R's friend was also wearing a princess dress (along with every single little girl in the place).  R did a great job watching the show and when all of the princesses came out at the end, R and S danced in the aisle.  After the show, we were all very hungry so we went to Panera for a bite to eat.  The princesses turned a few heads at Panera - perhaps a little overdressed for casual dining?  Next stop was DSW (to kill some time before the birthday party).  R tried on many colorful and frilly heels - she can walk very well in them too!  Then we went to J's birthday party at Greater's (first birthday party for R).  They had an ice cream themed playroom and everyone enjoyed cake and ice cream with the birthday girl.  We then came home to have a dinner date with the C family.  Needless to say, R was tuckered out at the end of the day and slept very well (as did mom).

ladies who brunch

R's friend S had a couple of friends over for brunch.  R asked "what is brunch"?  I said it is breakfast and lunch mooshed together, which seemed like a good explanation.  After a couple hours of playing and eating, R asked "when are we mooshing our food together?".  I said, what do you mean? -- she said that is what I told her, mooshing breakfast and lunch together....I guess she is one for the literal.  In any event, it was a great way to spend a Sunday morning.

superbowl sunday

tonight we went to the neighbor's house for a party to watch the commercials, i mean - super bowl.  it was pretty fun, even though i didn't see one minute of the game or commercials because i was running around after the kids.  the best part was that we could walk home from the neighbor's house!
