Trip to Charleston

R and I went to Charleston for our annual visit with Grammy.  It is always a very fast weekend, but so fun to have some Grammy time.  R was very very excited to fly on a plane "her first time" according to her, i had to reminder her that it is actually her 4th time!  This time was different, she instructed me, because she is a big girl and she can watch doc mcstuffins on the plane.  (both are true).  As soon as we go there, we went to Chic-fila to get a snack, R realized there was a playground inside the restaurant and blew off some steam climbing around on the equipment.  While we were visiting, we made sure to take advantage of all of the local playgrounds.  There is a lot of playground equipment shaped like ships down there - which excited R, as she played "jake and the neverland pirates" with her ship "bucky".  We played dress up at the castle inside the children's museum and had lunch at Toast.  We stopped at the cupcake shop on the way home and R put in her order for a chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting.  Grammy had her "usual" - the coconut.  R also allowed Grammy and Mommy to do some outlet mall shopping (mommy's favorite playground).  Overall, a great trip - thanks for the hospitality Grammy!

The boys had a good weekend too - Uncle B was in town and K got to spend some time with his uncle, Grandma and Pop Pop.

girls day

R had a very busy day.  We started the day with Disney on Ice.  We surprised R with a new princess dress to wear for the occasion.  It was very well received and when we met up with our friends at Nationwide, R whipped off her coat to proudly reveal her Aurora dress!  It was hilarious.  R's friend was also wearing a princess dress (along with every single little girl in the place).  R did a great job watching the show and when all of the princesses came out at the end, R and S danced in the aisle.  After the show, we were all very hungry so we went to Panera for a bite to eat.  The princesses turned a few heads at Panera - perhaps a little overdressed for casual dining?  Next stop was DSW (to kill some time before the birthday party).  R tried on many colorful and frilly heels - she can walk very well in them too!  Then we went to J's birthday party at Greater's (first birthday party for R).  They had an ice cream themed playroom and everyone enjoyed cake and ice cream with the birthday girl.  We then came home to have a dinner date with the C family.  Needless to say, R was tuckered out at the end of the day and slept very well (as did mom).

ladies who brunch

R's friend S had a couple of friends over for brunch.  R asked "what is brunch"?  I said it is breakfast and lunch mooshed together, which seemed like a good explanation.  After a couple hours of playing and eating, R asked "when are we mooshing our food together?".  I said, what do you mean? -- she said that is what I told her, mooshing breakfast and lunch together....I guess she is one for the literal.  In any event, it was a great way to spend a Sunday morning.

superbowl sunday

tonight we went to the neighbor's house for a party to watch the commercials, i mean - super bowl.  it was pretty fun, even though i didn't see one minute of the game or commercials because i was running around after the kids.  the best part was that we could walk home from the neighbor's house!

first snow

K was enjoying his first time out in the snow.  He loved being pulled around in the infant sled and R enjoyed running around behind us.  I tried to pull her too.  She loved standing next to the "christmas" tree next door.  After getting cold and wet we came back inside to watch a movie and eat popcorn.  It was a great way to kick off the new year.  For dinner we had port, kraut and potatoes!
