touch a truck!

on a beautiful morning in new albany, we headed over to Bevelymer Park for touch a truck.  we didn't tell R or K where we are going.  just showed up to climb on some vehicles.  the morning did not disappoint.  we had a great time "driving" the trucks and of course, touching every button.  even without trash in it - the garbage truck was very stinky.  it was super cool to put the kids in the bucket of the backhoe.  seeing my kids in the back of a police car is something i do not want to repeat.

i decided to get on a bike and ride 50 miles to raise money for cancer research.  peolotina is something that "other people" did and it always seemed cool, but i don't ride a bike!  this year, with the help of peer pressure from my office, i decided to buy a bike and get pedaling.  i did spend some time training, as it has been many many many years since i have been on a bike.  it was a great way to see my own city in a different way.  i appreciate my family's support (monetarily and in time sacrificed).  super cool and i caught the bug - i hope to be out there again next year!

irish festival 2013

we went back to our irish roots and spent the afternoon at the irish festival.  the kids stretched their legs on the playground.  we perused the merchant tents and had some delicious food.  R enjoyed ice cream and popcorn.  K had some of Grandma's funnel cake.  it was healthy eating all around.  We heard some good music and witnessed some interesting attire.  A very fun afternoon with pop-pop and grandma.

While daddy was away, we made a quick trip to grammy and grandpa howie's house.  it was a little rainy, much to our dismay - but we did have time for a quick tractor ride.  K was digging around in the garage and found an old toy tractor that belonged to U Matt many years ago.  we also dug out an old trike.  We did get to go swimming at the indoor pool and had dinner at a restaurant that had a cool train table.  what an exciting day!

Finally, some hot summer days to enjoy the backyard pools and water table.  getting wet is guaranteed.  we had D and E over to play on Sunday morning.  One of the pools has a leak, but it didn't damper the fun at all.  the kids also tried the sprinkler and slip-n-slide.  A fun morning for sure.

Cleveland Friends

We made plans months ago to meet the Bailey's at the lake.  Little did we know the amount of rain that Ohio would have in the month of July.  Crazy.  We met at the lake, but we could not boat - could not swim - could not even find the beach.  But that didn't stop grandpa howie - he pulled out the old canoes.  A and Grammy "volunteered" to stay on land while G Howie and mommy took the kids in a canoe.  ok at first, but K kept standing up and walking around the canoe.  he even took off his shoe and was going to throw it overboard.  ugh!!  the Bailey's faired much better.  After a quick ride in the canoes, we had lunch and then went to the park of course.  the girls played while K napped.  they were up at the park for hours in the heat.  K eventually joined us to play on the train and get pushed on the swing.  a fun day with our good friends - don't get to see them enough!!

Grandparent time!

we have been looking for a time for all of the grandparents to get together at the same time.  finally we found our window of opportunity on the holiday weekend - a little time at Chip.  it started as a grey morning but we decided to get out on the boat.  it turned out to be a nice ride and we even saw a bald eagle.  for lunch we had uncle jordan join us and enjoyed some delicious chicken and sides.  after a nap break for K, we decided to go to the park.  the kids had a great time on the swings and hot purple dinosaur.  of course, K could not get enough of the wooden train.  it was a really fun day with family.
